Examining the notion of circumstance and its inevitability, this work reflects on the necessity in adapting to the situation that we find ourselves immersed in. The artist's work is based on real-life situations, which he encounters and later translates into scenes using his recurring iconography that permits a more universal understanding of these observed moments. The figure in the piece is depicted in the midst of a downpour, almost smothered by the falling rain while covering its head with newspaper to protect itself from getting wet. The rain in Know Hope's work symbolizes circumstance, inevitability and a common denominator, which presents the title of the piece as a lost cause.
